About Magnus

Magnus Ingemund Kjelstad, b.1991, is a Norwegian barytone who received his education at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen with elite pedagogue Susanna Eken.

In 2017 Magnus made his debut at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, with the role of 2. Priester in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. He performed many other roles with RDO throughout his study, amongst others Morales/Dancaïre in Carmen and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.

Seasons 20/21 and 21/22 Magnus was employed as an intern with the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo, performing the roles Fiorello/Uffiziale in The Barber of Seville, Schaunard in La Bohème, Jupiter in Orpheus in the Underworld, Spinnelloccio in Gianni Schicchi and Morales in Carmen. 

Season 22/23 Magnus performs Edwin in Memories of Czardas, the Captain in Onegin and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
